Anton Hur was born in Stockholm and currently resides in Seoul. He is a writer and the celebrated translator of Bora Chung’s Cursed Bunny, Sang Young Park’s Love in the Big CityThe Underground Village by Kang Kyeong-ae, Violets, I Went to See My Father, and The Court Dancer by Kyung-Sook Shin, Baek Sehee’s I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki, and a number of other works. In 2022, two of his translations (Cursed Bunny and Love in the Big City) were longlisted for the International Booker Prize, and one (Cursed Bunny) made the shortlist. A sought-after speaker and commentator on literary translation, he has served on the faculty of the British Centre for Literary Translation, the Ewha University Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation, and the Bread Loaf Translators Conference.
