The Trump Administration has made a sharp departure from past US administrations by opting for a strategy of maximum pressure on North Korea. U.S. Secretary of State Tillerson recently stated that he would explore diplomatic solutions up until the day the first bomb dropped. Wilder, based on his personal involvement in dealing with the North Korean nuclear problem, will explore what led to this crisis, the status of North Korean missile and nuclear development, the role of regional actors such as China, and the factors that need to be assessed to understand the trajectory of this crisis.
Organized by the Arnold A. Saltzman Institute of War and Peace Studies
